The Role:-
Are you an experienced housing and homelessness professional looking for an exciting challenge? Do you have an extensive understanding of the Homelessness Reduction Act, preventing homelessness and safeguarding? Do you have experience leading a team or are you ready to take that next step?
Watford Borough Council is currently strengthening its housing service to meet the significant housing challenges faced by its residents. A strong focus will be on the prevention of homelessness and a reduction in numbers in temporary accommodation, as well as delivering excellent value-for-money services fit for the future.
This role is an exciting and challenging post for an experienced housing professional, giving you the opportunity to refocus the council’s front line and create an effective housing advice and homeless prevention service. Candidates will have excellent interpersonal skills, be highly effective working as a team, and ideally have management experience in operational homeless services and a proven track record in change management. We are a forward-thinking authority that is ambitious, innovative, and entrepreneurial, and works as a team to deliver services. With a leadership culture of empowerment, you will be rewarded for actively delivering service improvement and development. We are looking for someone with the right approach and enthusiasm to take our families and young people’s homelessness service forward and support the team to develop and deliver excellent services.
What we are looking for:-
The successful candidate will have the drive and ambition to champion and embed a culture of continuous improvement within the housing service. They will be able to manage a team of multi-disciplinary experienced officers, working collaboratively with partners to seek solutions. Key requirements include effective communication, team-building skills, the ability and motivation to solve problems, personal credibility and an approach that builds rapport and confidence in both officers and partners.
