The Role:
As a Corporate Communications and Campaigns Officer (1-year fixed term), you will play a pivotal role in our Corporate Communications and Campaigns team, leading on creating impactful and engaging campaigns across various digital and traditional platforms. This role enhances the council’s reputation by managing a broad spectrum of communications channels and supporting corporate communications activities with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
This post requires a variety of skills, including writing for different audiences and channels, social media content creation and a good grasp of visual communications. The ideal candidate will be a creative thinker with a keen eye for visual communications and the ability to convey messages effectively through diverse communication channels.

Key responsibilities include:
- Develop comprehensive communications and campaign plans, collaborating with service areas and external organisations.
- Provide creative input and concepts for campaigns, incorporating best practices from various sectors.
- Help develop the council’s social media presence, creating engaging content and growing the council’s follower base.
- Respond to media and social media enquiries to ensure accurate representation of the council.
- Write and upload content for internal and external channels, including the council’s website, intranet, and magazine.
- Film and upload videos using tools such as Adobe Premiere Elements, CapCut and YouTube.
- Manage and respond to media enquiries, providing expert advice to services.
- Undertake research, data gathering, and analysis; interpret and present consultation and survey results.
- Develop questionnaires and support consultation and engagement activities.
- Assist with corporate events, manage publicity shared drives, and oversee external poster sites.
- Manage internal communications, including all-staff emails, corporate briefings, and the staff newsletter.
- Participate actively in team meetings and projects, supporting other team members as needed.
- Manage purchase orders, payments, and respond to requests through the staff portal, ensuring adherence to service standards.
- Ensure all work meets quality standards and contributes to agreed key performance indicators and service standards.
- Ensure work aligns with other key council policies and strategies.
- Continuously assess and improve content based on evaluation, performance metrics and feedback.
- Ensure all work and material produced reflects and celebrates our diverse and vibrant community.
- Uphold a personal commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
- Deputise for the Senior Corporate Communications and Campaigns Officer as required.
- Perform other duties within function area as and when required, including supporting the service to provide 24/7 cover in the case of an emergency.

- May be required to undertake duties to help to deliver council services during times of local or national emergencies. This may include duties outside your usual role and/or at a different location.
