Following the successful implementation of new Building Control and Planning Enforcement shared services with Watford Borough Council’s partners at St Albans City and District Council, we have made a commitment to explore further shared services.
We have exciting projects in the pipeline requiring robust project management and are therefore seeking a Senior Project Manager to join us on a full-time basis, working 37 hours per week on an initial two year fixed-term contract.

The Role
As a Senior Projects Manager, you will ensure that a wide array of planning-focused projects run to time and to budget and deliver lasting, positive change as part of our Enterprise Programme Management Office.
Liaising with internal services and external stakeholders, you will drive projects forward, ensuring ongoing buy-in and on-time delivery. You will deliver concise updates to Project Boards and other stakeholders, including elected members, through regular and accurate reporting and verbal updates.
Additionally, you will undertake risk, issue and benefit management, and complete and maintain all appropriate logs and associated project management documentation. You will champion our approach to project management and will be able to influence the council’s long-term plans, ensuring they are embedded across the organisation.
About You
To be considered as a Senior Projects Manager, you will need:
- Experience working at a senior level on complex projects
- Experience in transformation and business redesign
- To be a qualified PRINCE2 Practitioner
- The ability to work simultaneously across a number of diverse and high-profile projects
- Organisational awareness with the ability to utilise the professional knowledge and experience of officers to design successful future services
Business analysis experience would be an advantage, as would a track record of having worked on internal transformation projects.
