Experienced and confident, you will have exceptional financial and commercial experience, but also bring change and energy. You will have the credibility and people skills to forge and grow relationships. You will develop new ground breaking partnerships and take our existing partnerships to the next level.

The Role
Reporting directly to the Managing Director you will be a key member of the Leadership Board, with responsibility for the development of a commercially-focused, innovative culture and ethos, ensuring sustained pace of change.
You will be our lead on commercial partnerships and continue to build excellent relationships with our partners across the region. Your ability to create long-term commercially viable visions will be balanced with a hunger to move at pace and get things done. As part of the leadership team, you must demonstrate the Watford approach. You will be expected to listen to residents, work with elected members, promote pride amongst officers and continue to enhance Watford’s brand and reputation.

You will:

• have highly developed strategic client relationship management skills.
• also act as a Director of Watford Commercial Services.
• secure and develop the Council’s income streams.
• work with the Managing Director to continue to enhance Watford’s bran and reputation.

Responsibilities:

• Leading the development of a commercially-focused, innovative culture and ethos, ensuring sustained pace of change.
• Develop and challenge Partnership Working in order to add value to the vital services the council provides and the communities we serve.
• Provide practical and innovative solutions to the real challenges faced, despite limited resources.
• Identify and develop routes to funding, including the development of alternative funding instruments.
• Take a long-term strategic view of the external market conditions and maximise income.

About You:

To be considered for this role, you will need:

• a proven track record of inspirational team leadership,
• a strong track record of strategic thinking,
• a CCAB/CIMA qualification in Accountancy,
• experience of strong team working with a desire to build strong working relationships both internally and externally,
• experience in the development of business cases and the successful closure of new business opportunities.
